One of the many challenging aspect of being an artist is the ability to develop an expression
that another person can experience, and as stated by Megg Jacobs, "I think the message is strong and relatable to a lot of folks and something I don’t talk about a lot.
So writing a song about it was a way to finally get it off my chest."
"Without You" was a track she really appreciated but had struggled with recording as she stated
"I just couldn’t figure out how to say what I wanted to say with it. When Jose and I played around
with it a little bit there was this lightbulb moment where it all clicked together and we wrote the chorus."
Megg Jacobs further expressed that along with her influences, "My writing tends to be focused on storytelling,
sometimes around my lived experiences as a way to cope with trauma and that song certainly does that." referring
to her single "Without You".
One of her major influences has been Spiritbox since discovering them a few years ago
off their single "Bleach Bath" as well as her resonance with Courtney LaPlante,
the lead singer of Spiritbox, and her ability to combine impactful, harsh screaming
vocals with softer overtone.
Chappell Roan has been another major influence in regard to her ability to connect with
her audience as well as her approach to her overall persona, and as stated by Megg Jacobs,
"I love camp, drag style and girlie things, alongside the dark and macabre so finding
a way to blend the two has been a fun challenge."
Megg Jacobs further expressed that "Being a solo artist really made me step my game up when it comes to writing,
and not having a 'safety net' of sorts really pushed me to creating and writing
in a way that feels truly authentic to who I am as an artist."
